The host

I'm a grey-haired lecturer with the English section of the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication at Ghent University. Originally from Yorkshire, I've lived in Belgium for going on 20 years now.

Now, I love my job, but know that there are two stories about working in a university: one rightly talks about professional ambition, achievement and fulfilment; but the other is about the difficulties of maintaining a healthy balance between the many pressures we face at work (but also outside of work) and our wellbeing. Important I think that we listen to, and tell, both stories.
